Over the last several weeks, Claire's nap has gone from 2-2 1/2 hours to an hour and fifteen minutes. I've read all of the sleep books, and I'm not convinced that this short of a nap is good for either of us. Yesterday, I decided that we needed to increase her nap by at least an hour. I swapped her usual short pre-nap story time for the full nighttime routine. I snuggled her into her jammies, read a her a bunch of books in the big bed and even gave her a warm sippy cup full of milk. The girl didn't know what hit her: she slept nearly 3 hours and still slept her usual 12 hours at night. Hallelujah.
So yeah, I outsmarted a 21 month old.

Way to go...praying it stil is working. Noah took naps till he was in Kindergarten LOVED IT. Little one not past a year. UGH!
Hey! Outsmarting a 21 month old is a feat - don't sell yourself short. I'm still trying to figure out how to outsmart my 9 month old into sleeping. I'm thinking you are pretty smart right about now...Kudos to you, friend!
Lucky lucky you. I would LOVE for Brayden to take even a ten minute nap. He quit napping when he was 1. And not only that.....he stays up way to late too......like after ten almost every night. I think I am sleep deprived.
Oooh! I am so jealous of you. That is an awesome trick. I wish I would've thought of it 4 kids ago.
Mason recently stopped napping altogether. I still make him hang out in his room for an hour. I am perched outside his door with a good book. I'm like a jailer, but it does give me some peace and quiet.
