navel gazing

Tomorrow's the due date. Still no baby. I'm not surprised. The girl was late. I'm trying to remind myself that this is the easy part. This stretched out, peeing every 3 seconds, painful cramping, emotionally exhausted, crabby beyond belief time is the easy part. It is also a gift. Each day that I wait for him, I am reminded that I wouldn't have been able to do that if I hadn't listened to my (gigantic) gut and found a new provider. Today I will be thankful, I can't guarantee that will continue if this goes on for another week or 2.

I've been praying for you and your little one so much these past couple of days.

You know, I was reading in one of my (many) birth books about due dates and how arbitrary they can be. That the average first pregnancy is actually 41 weeks 1 day and subsequent pregnancies are averaged to be about 40 weeks 3 days. But these are just averages!! Your body and your baby's body know when it's time to be born. (And if your provider thinks there's a sound reason to induce, they will...or perhaps still let nature take it's course!!)

Of course, it's so easy for me to say this as Makayla came 5 days before her due date and I'm not nearly as pregnant as you are!!!

Hang in there, you've got a great attitude!! I'm continuing to pray for you guys. It won't be long!!

Update- I was checked today and everything looked great. She isn't concerned with me being "overdue" and has no plans to induce. We're gonna wait til he's ready. I love that.

PS- My new provider likes to remind me that Claire was 8 days late, or exactly average for a first babe, as Valerie pointed out :)
