suck it, albuterol.
Yesterday my wheezy boy had a 1/2 dose of a breathing treatment at the doctor's office and I was reminded why we go the hippie route whenever possible.

over it.
When my good friend gave me one of these for my birthday I was maybe a tiny bit underwhelmed.

Til this guy told me that his ear hurt this morning, and we were able to see it ourselves. So, one missed morning nap for the baby, a breathing treatment for the big boy and a prescription for antiobiotics and we're back home. We've all taken turns being the sick one in this house for the entire month of February. Hoping that we begin to heal. This is getting old.

an open letter to the cashier at target who compared having kids to having a puppy.
Dear Cashier,
I have a dog. And I have kids. I see few similarities between them.
1. My dog spent the entire morning locked in a bathroom.
2. My kids did not.
I wasn't able to be more cordial when you were clearly just trying to make (insane) small talk with me.
Perhaps because my littlest baby has been sick and fell asleep in my arms for the first time since she was tiny I was feeling a little punchy. Perhaps because we were only there because there was no toilet paper in our house and I had 3 kids bundled up with fevers and colds, I just couldn't cope with small talk.

Here she is, my sweet third HUMAN child. Nothing like a dog. Just saying.

you make beautiful things.

We are finishing our seventh year of marriage. Seven years. In Vegas sevens are lucky. In Bibles sevens mean rest.
That has been the theme of this year for us. Rest.
It is harder than you'd think. Before committing, before serving, before joining, we have been called to rest. In these seven years we've done 3 pregnancies, we've run a small business, we've served in a church, we've made A LOT of meals and brownies and mistakes. God called us to rest this year, to step down and un-commit. It has not been easy for me. I like a purpose.
I don't know the whys of this season. He is always faithful. He is always good. He makes beautiful things out of us.

funny valentines.
Just because I love this girl and I love this hat and I love that we get to use it one more time:

We made pinterest inspired Valentines this week. Easy peasy photos of the kids holding a big stick in front of the chalkboard that I thought was cute here. Then we fancified it up with homemade glitter crayons. And, while you might call glitter the chlamydia of the craft world, my kids claim that these are the coolest things around.

Sickies
Mister has a fever. I always get nervous when he gets sick.
Thankfully his big sis is not only a kindergartener but is also a doctor. Her medical notes: heart (beating), TH (temperature high), G (good).
